Apple Acres Farm

Fresh, Local, Seasonal Products

Our products are made from scratch right in our farm kitchen (or in our sugar shack) under cottage food regulations. Our focus on small batches using in-season produce is by design to ensure fresh, nutritious, and delicious farm products!

In keeping with our sustainability and local food roots, our offerings are seasonally available directly from the farm from June through October. We strongly believe in supporting local businesses, especially small-scale farmers and producers. Supporting local farmers supports local economies! We therefore primarily offer local sales and encourage folks to seek out producers in their own area. This is especially important for products like honey that provide the greatest health benefits when when sourced locally thanks to the pollen contained in raw, unfiltered honey. We do ship herbal tinctures.

Interested in picking up some of our products from the farm? We no longer set up a farm stand, but visitors are welcome to stop by Fridays from 3-6 pm. If you'd like an order to be ready for you, please contact us in advance!

Apple Cider Vinegar

Raw, unfiltered, and unpasteurized apple cider vinegar with mother

Raw, unfiltered. and unpasteurized with 'Mother'

Made from apples regeneratively grown, without chemicals, right here on the farm. Each bottle contains the 'Mother' - the source of organic acids and enzymes.

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is made from fermented apple juice and offers many health benefits. ACV can be used daily as part of a wellness routine by adding 1-2 tablespoons per cup sparkling or filtered water. It can also be used in salad dressings, marinades, vinaigrettes, food preserves, and chutneys.

Local Maple Syrup

Maple syrup from light to dark syrup

Tapped on the farm and boiled in our sugar shack

Each spring we tap maple trees right here on the farm. We hand haul the sap back to our sugar shack where it's boiled down in our evaporator into delicious maple syrup.

Unlike refined sugar, maple syrup is a source of calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, and zinc. Vitamins such as thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, and B6 are also found in this natural source of sweetness!

Free-Range Eggs

Pasture raised green egg with chicken

Pasture-raised, farm fresh eggs

Heather’s happy hens have the run of the farm. They spend their days foraging on pasture, dust bathing, and coming and going from their beautiful coop as they please.

We feed our flock organic non-GMO feed to supplement their vitamins and minerals and ensure healthy egg laying. Thanks to their free-range diet they produce healthy and gorgeous deep orange-yolked eggs that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids!

Wildflower Honey

Jars of Raw wildflower honey

Raw and unfiltered honey

Our wildflower honey is derived from the nectar of various flower species growing around the farm.

Raw and unfiltered honey contains bee pollen and propolis, offering a variety of health properties, including prebiotics, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.

We extract surplus honey in late August and leave at least 100 pounds per hive to ensure our bees have enough of this nutritious food stored for our long winters.

As a small-scale producer, we operate under the state of Michigan's Cottage Food Law (PA 113 of 2010), which exempts our "cottage food" products from the licensing and inspection provisions of the Michigan Food Law. This allows our products to be made in a facility that is not inspected by the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development.

Apple Acres Farm wooden mailbox sign with goats

Looking to visit the farm? Although we are conveniently located about three miles from downtown Houghton and Michigan Tech, we are a bit tucked away, which we love! However, it can make it a little tricky for visitors and guests to find us.

Our farm and farm stay are located at the top of our long and scenic driveway (i.e., we are not visible from the road). To help visitors and guests find our driveway, we have added a beautiful wooden sign to our mailbox. Feel free to openly admire this locally made artwork... we are pretty smitten with it ourselves!
