Apple Acres Farm

FARM STAYS

We knew early on we wanted to share our farm with others interested in connecting to the land and a sustainable food system, including meeting modern day small-scale farmers. Our farm is slightly hidden amongst a heritage apple orchard and mature diverse forest, which makes it perfect for a farm getaway as indicated by reviews from our past guests!

We have been creating our happy place on this unique land since 2018 and invite you to come share it with us. For some guests that means taking an afternoon stroll down to greet our curious Nigerian dwarf goats, Niko and Nibler. While others love to be entertained by the daily antics of our free-range chicken flock. For the nature enthusiasts, you'll have an easy time spotting our honey bees and native pollinators amongst the wildflower gardens and meadows. Guests are usually treated to regular sightings of our resident deer friends, who are not tame or fed, but who enjoy the abundant wild food around the farm.

We offer guests a variety of farm stay options, including the studio loft apartment (sleeps 4), a private room in our passive-solar home (sleeps 2), and a wooded camp site in our Sugar Bush (tent or camper). Each guest is offered a complimentary farm tour.

We work hard to accommodate our guests' needs, whether that means having a beautiful and relaxing place to stay or learning more about the happenings of our off-grid, regenerative farm. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding our farm stays!

GUEST REVIEWS

We love hosting folks on the farm! Lucky for us, our guests are amazing and enjoy experiencing our off-grid farm stays... including the chicken and goat greeting committees.

Whether you are looking to unplug from the daily grind and appreciate the peaceful surroundings of the farm, or simply appreciate having a cozy and conveniently located place to relax in between your action-filled adventures, we'd love to have you stay out at the farm!

“Heather’s hospitality, responsiveness, and flexibility was unparalleled— I couldn’t have asked for more. If you’re in the area, stay here. The location is a beautiful waypoint to explore both the Porcupine Mountains as well as the Keweenaw Peninsula.”

Patricia

“Heather and Caleb have created a wonderfully peaceful retreat that is still easily accessible to Houghton and Hancock. The house is cozy yet spacious and modern, and we found it had everything we needed to be comfortable. We truly loved all the sustainable practices they have adopted, especially the solar panels and the adorable chicken flock.”

“Amazing stay. Heather accommodated our last minute changes and welcomed us to a beautiful tour around her farm. Very close to Houghton yet far enough to feel like you are off the grid. Love the promotion of energy efficiency in the design. Could not imagine having my first experience in the Keweenaw peninsula without staying here!”

“We had such a great time here! Would recommend to anyone. More than just a stylish space, it's a great experience on the farm - we really felt at home there and it was sad to leave the chickens. Great to explore the Keweenaw as well. Heather and Caleb are awesome hosts!”

Tresa

“Great place to stay that is off the beaten path; super clean loft with all the amenities needed! Heather’s hospitality was above and beyond! She provided a nice tour of the farm and shared so much great information and the tea was outstanding. This place was a 10/10 for sure!”

“What a great place to stay in Houghton. It was a perfect location for our forays to The Porcupine Mountains and then to Copper Harbor. It is immaculately clean and tastily decorated while being off the grid, which was a fascinating learning experience for us. You will be greeted with a tour of the farm and if you are lucky you might see the two fawns that visited every day.”
